This original handcrafted axe by Yachur is inspired by Huginn and Muninn — the legendary ravens of Odin deeply connected with Norse mythology and Viking Age symbolism.
Combining mythology, historical inspiration, and modern artistic craftsmanship, this piece is designed as both a collectible object and a striking Viking-inspired art piece.
The concept draws inspiration from rare bimetallic Viking Age artifacts of the 10th–11th century, where bronze structures were combined with iron blades to create complex ceremonial and high-status objects.
The sculptural axe head is built around the imagery of Odin’s ravens. Flowing ornamental forms merge into the blade, creating a unified composition symbolizing wisdom, memory, knowledge, and the connection between worlds.
The blade is made from high-quality tool steel and deeply integrated into the structure of the head. The steel core extends deep inside and is secured through complex geometry, while the beryllium bronze envelops it, creating a durable and monolithic construction.
The main body of the axe head is crafted from beryllium bronze, giving the piece a distinctive tone, depth, and the atmosphere of an ancient artifact.
The handle is made from ash wood and treated with natural linseed oil, enhancing the wood grain while ensuring long-term durability.
