Handcrafted Viking-Inspired Artisan Axe Inspired by Yggdrasil

This original handcrafted axe by Yachur is inspired by Yggdrasil — the World Tree of Norse mythology — and rare Viking Age historical finds.

Combining mythology, historical inspiration, and modern artistic craftsmanship, this piece is designed as both a collectible object and a striking Viking-inspired art piece.

The concept draws inspiration from rare bimetallic Viking Age axes of the 10th–11th century, similar to the historical find from Falköping, Sweden, where bronze structures were combined with iron blades.

The sculptural axe head is designed in the form of Yggdrasil. The branches seamlessly flow into the blade, creating a unified living composition symbolizing strength, connection between worlds, and continuity of life.

The blade is made from high-quality tool steel and deeply integrated into the structure of the head. The steel core extends deep inside and is secured through complex geometry, while the beryllium bronze envelops it, creating a durable and monolithic construction.

The head base is crafted from beryllium bronze, giving the piece a distinctive tone, depth, and the atmosphere of an ancient artifact.

The handle is made from ash wood and treated with natural linseed oil, enhancing the wood grain while ensuring long-term durability.

Each axe is handmade in small batches as part of the Yachur collection with careful attention to detail and craftsmanship.

CARE:

1. Avoid storing the axe in a leather sheath for extended periods (e.g., over a month) to prevent blade staining. If you need to store it in a leather sheath, wrap the blade in a lamination sheet first.

2. Periodically coat the blade with silicon oil to prevent rust.
